Fresno Chaffee Zoo is searching for a knowledgeable, outgoing and guest-oriented Veterinary Technician. This position is full-time, regular, and benefited. The Veterinary Technician must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. At Fresno Chaffee Zoo, it is critical to have a strong focus on guest service. This special project position is established to fill in for a temporary vacancy in the Animal Department. The Zookeeper Assistant will provide skilled daily care of the Zoo’s animals in a zoological setting. Under general supervision of staff, the responsibilities and duties of the Zookeeper Assistants include, but are not necessarily limited to, the maintenance and observation for the health, feeding and care of a variety of zoo animals; record keeping; assisting in the movement of animals as directed; interacting with zoo docents; excellence in guest relations skills. Also responsible for driving zoo vehicles to pick up supplies and materials as assigned. This is a part time position that will be scheduled roughly 29 hours per week.
Custodians will have the opportunity to work across a variety of locations, both indoors and outdoors, and interact with Guests daily answering questions, supplying directions and providing exceptional Guest service. This position works independently and as part of a crew to maintain Zoo grounds and buildings in an attractive, healthy, and safe manner. Daily responsibilities include general cleaning, emptying trashcans, cleaning restrooms, sweeping and general area cleaning. Must be able to competently perform all tasks associate with janitorial work. Required to be familiar with and use all hand tools and cleaning chemicals. Adequately read and interpret protocols, sketches, and specifications. Must be comfortable interacting and serving the general public. Must be comfortable working in a team environment consisting of management, staff and outside contractors. Required to use considerable judgment when performing and planning to perform his/her tasks.
The Zoo Adventure Instructor designs and implements class lesson plans/programs that correlate with the Zoo Education Department’s mission statement for Zoo Adventures seasonal programs. The Zoo Adventure Instructor has the authority to carry out the job requirements and responsibilities and is accountable to the Education Curator. The primary accountabilities are designing of class lesson plans that correlate with the theme and goals of the weekly class. Research and creates games, activities, and crafts for students. Instructors are responsible for supervision of students, volunteers who assist with classes. Our Instructors are upbeat and positive educators that have a passion for both animals and children. Instructors will also perform other duties as required by the Education Curator.
Service Systems Associates located at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo is currently looking for a part time, seasonal culinary associate, for the following positions: Prep Cook, Utilities (dish washer), Barista, Cashier, and Line Cook. Applicant must have a ServSafe/Food handler’s card, a high school diploma or equivalent and experience is preferred.
Successful applicants will have an energetic and enthusiastic personality with the passion to uphold the highest level of guest satisfaction. The applicant must have a strong team mentality but capable of working individually and resourcefully at various stations around the zoo facility. The positions are seasonal but can extend longer.
