Fresno Chaffee Zoo and Toca Madera Winery have teamed up to help support international conservation projects! Currently, the conservation wine can be purchased at the Zoo in the Safari Trading Co. and at Vons at 8949 N Cedar Ave in Fresno.
Released in 2017, the Wildlife Conservation Series wine features Moscato, Contigo, Malbec and Cabernet-Syrah. A portion of the Wildlife Conservation Series wine sales go directly to conservation projects listed below. With every Wildlife Conservation Series bottle of Malbec you purchase, you are protecting diversity of life and promoting true global change. Cheers to our planet!
Toca Madera Winery’s 2014 Cabernet Syrah presents savory aromas of dried herbs and leather over a blackberry fruit core, resulting in a smooth-flavored, elegant style with a soft, lingering finish. A portion of the proceeds from purchasing this bottle of wine will benefit the Tarangire Elephant Project. Located in the Tarangire forest in Tanzania, this project has identified over 1,000 individual elephants, creating the largest elephant database. Their work is focused on identifying and protecting wildlife migration corridors and dispersal areas outside the wildlife parks where the animals live.
With a completely native fermentation, the 2015 Malbec combines aromas and flavors of ripe berry, tamarind and herbs with dark color that’s as deep as the flavors, yet balanced to finish with supple tannins. A portion of the proceeds from purchasing this bottle of wine will benefit the International Rhino Foundation. In response to the global crisis in rhinoceros conservation, the International Rhino Foundation (IRF) protects particularly threatened rhino populations in the wild with education, monitoring, and anti-poaching efforts while also supporting applied research that can help to improve the chances for long-term survival of all rhinoceros species.
A beautiful wine the whole way through, our 2014 Moscato Giallo shines brightly with scents of citrus, peach and honey for a nearly-dry flavor that is light and refreshing. A portion of the proceeds from purchasing this bottle of wine will benefit the Grevy’s Zebra Trust. This project employs local men and women as scouts to collect data on the population, inspire positive behavior toward the species and engage local school children.
With a completely native fermentation the 2015 Contigo combines aromas and flavors of ripe berry, tamarind and herbs with dark color that’s as deep as the flavors, yet balanced to finish with supple tannins. A portion of the proceeds from purchasing this bottle of wine will benefit Action for Cheetahs in Kenya. This project is focused on studying cheetah ecology and populations.
